Lessons from the Universe (Again!)

Two things appeared in my universe this week that I feel compelled to share with the Coaching@TomD community.

The first is the opposite of Paranoia. Did you know that there is actually a word coined in the 1980s - Pronoia, which is the exact opposite of Paranoia.

Wikipedia defines Pronoia as follows : "It is the positive belief that the world, the universe or other people are secretly conspiring to help you, support you and do you good".

Wow - what a heart warming belief pattern. While chatting recently to one of the wonderful members of this community, she asked me a question last week that shifted the way I am thinking and behaving since then. It was a simple question, obvious in the moment to her, but not to me. It was Pronoia in action! Without knowing it she was secretly conspiring with the universe to help and support me.

So practice Pronoia by asking oneself - "What can go right?" instead of "What can go wrong?"

The second is this quote I got from Anthony Scaramucci on the podcast Goalhanger from Katty Kay - https://youtu.be/mGP6HCFasxc?si=Ra5FxG5hfB68QXM_

In it Anthony shares a quote that he has ingrained in his children. It is from Henry Ford - "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." Reflect on that for a moment. Profound implications for the way in which we talk to ourselves.

It's the stories we tell ourselves that are so important!
